REFLECTION
Experiences
This semester, I embarked on a journey through various typography tasks, each of them contributed to my development as a design student in its own particular manner. In the Type Expression task, I explored the field of visual communication to convey information through type. Aside from that, the Type Expression Animation task added a dynamic dimension that allowed me to transform a static design into a fluid motion. The editorial layout taught me kerning, leading, and grid systems. Typeface design, on the other hand, allowed me to create fonts on my own and learn how to balance creativity and functionality. Mr.Vinod will always give me feedback on where I can improve and what I did wrong. I really appreciate his hard work, and I believe I learned a lot from him this semester.
Observations
The most important steps in completing the tasks are conducting research, drafting ideas, and communicating effectively. It helps me a lot to brainstorm, reconstructing my rough ideas into ideas that are capable, and communicating with Mr.Vinod for feedback. My work progressed much more smoothly after the first two exercises because I realised how important these three steps are. Without these steps, I frequently became stuck and unsure how to proceed with my work because I lacked ideas and was unclear of what I could improve on. As a result, I plan on keeping practicing these steps in future assignments.
Findings
Throughout the tasks that I did, I fully understand typography exist beyond the classroom. Typography's usage extends to a variety of professional domains, emphasising its critical role in effective visual communication. These lessons have given me confidence in my ability to create meaningful and impactful typographic designs, which will serve as a solid foundation for future assignments. I will continue to stay curious, to embrace challenges, and to explore the endless possibilities of typography. My reflections not only capture my current achievements, but also lay the groundwork for a promising and benefiting path in design.
